A. Garcia-martin et Jj. Saenz, Universal conductance distributions in the crossover between diffusive andlocalization regimes - art. no. 116603, PHYS REV L, 8711(11), 2001, pp. 6603
The full distribution of the conductance P(G) in quasi-one-dimensional wire
s with rough surfaces is analyzed from the diffusive to the localization re
gime. In the crossover region, where the statistics is dominated by only on
e or two eigenchannels, the numerically obtained P(G) is found to be indepe
ndent of the details of the system with the average conductance <G > as the
only scaling parameter. For <G > < e(2)/h. P(G) is given by an essentially
"one-sided" log-normal distribution. In contrast, for e(2)/h < <G > less t
han or equal to 2e(2)/h, the shape of P(G) remarkably agrees with those pre
dicted by random matrix theory for two fluctuating transmission eigenchanne
ls.
