Abstract
Objective: To present Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) normative da ta for persons with recent-onset spinal cord injury (SCI). Setting. A South eastern rehabilitation facility. Participants: One hundred eighty-four pers ons (133 males and 51 females) with recent-onset SCI assessed with the Rey AVLT during their inpatient rehabilitation hospitalization. Results: Genera l trends toward decreased recall with increasing age and increased recall w ith increasing educational level were noted. Gender differences were not de tected. Average scores are presented in tables by age and by education sepa rately. Conclusions: The normative information presented may assist rehabil itation psychologists in providing interpretations and recommendations to r ehabilitation team members regarding each individual's ability to learn and benefit from verbal instruction in rehabilitation therapies in comparison with other individuals with SCI.
