M. Kurylo et al., Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) performance in individuals with recent-onset spinal cord injury, REHAB PSYCH, 46(3), 2001, pp. 247-261
Objective: To present Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) normative da
ta for persons with recent-onset spinal cord injury (SCI). Setting. A South
eastern rehabilitation facility. Participants: One hundred eighty-four pers
ons (133 males and 51 females) with recent-onset SCI assessed with the Rey
AVLT during their inpatient rehabilitation hospitalization. Results: Genera
l trends toward decreased recall with increasing age and increased recall w
ith increasing educational level were noted. Gender differences were not de
tected. Average scores are presented in tables by age and by education sepa
rately. Conclusions: The normative information presented may assist rehabil
itation psychologists in providing interpretations and recommendations to r
ehabilitation team members regarding each individual's ability to learn and
benefit from verbal instruction in rehabilitation therapies in comparison
with other individuals with SCI.
