Post-natal development of plasma and urine osmolality, as well as plas
ma renin activity, aldosteron and cortisol levels were studied in calv
es between 1 and 9 months of age. The ratio of urine to plasma osmolal
ity rose from 0.8 at an early post natal age to 3.8 at the end of the
study period. Plasma renin activity, plasma aldosteron and cortisol le
vels did not show any change during the post-natal development period.
The plasma concentrations of these hormones were in the same range as
is found in the adult.
