Synthesis of structurally diversified alpha-substituted beta-amino acids and derivatives via conjugate radical additions and heck reactions

An efficient short-step synthesis of a-substituted P-amino, beta -hydrazino , beta -N-hydroxy esters and beta -urethane N-carboxyanhydrides is reported . Structural diversity was easily incorporated in good yields at the a posi tion of the carboxylic group via conjugate radical additions and Heck react ions performed on the conjugated double bond of synthons 3. 8 and 9.
