Abstract
The electrically conducting composites are prepared by chemical oxidative p olymerization using polypyrrole (PPy) and polycarbonate (PC) or sulfonated polycarbonate (SPC) in chloroform. The pyrrole was protonated and polymeriz ed using iron(III) chloride (FeCl3). The sulfonic group was introduced into the structure of PC in order to enhance the coulombic interaction between each phase of composites. The electrical conductivity and morphology were o bserved as a function of the amount of PPy. The electrical conductivity was increased up to 0.82 S/cm. with the amount of PPy. The PPy/SPC composites were stable in atmosphere. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserv ed.
