The majority of patients diagnosed with colorectal carcinoma die of me
tastatic disease. The liver, peritoneum, and lung are the most common
sites of metastasis. Surgical resection improves survival and offers t
he only chance for cure. The indications, techniques, and results of r
esection and newer treatment methods including cryotherapy, hepatic ar
tery chemotherapy, and intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy are r
eviewed.
