Samples of Fe-56-Cr-18-Ni-16-Mn-10 single crystals of (111) and (100) cryst
allographic planes and 12 x 12 x 2 mm(3) dimensions have been treated by a
proton beam of I MeV energy. Analysis of their structure and the element co
mposition has been performed using the methods of transmission electron mic
roscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic-force microscopy, Rutherford
back scattering of ions. Also we applied micro-hardness tests, those of wea
r resistance, and corrosion resistance. Numerically we solved the problem o
f determining the amount of evaporated material. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science
