A self-report questionnaire was administered to high school seniors to coll
ect data on the psychological, behavioral, and social aspects of their live
s. It was found that employment was associated with (1) greater depression;
(2) inferior relationships with parents and best friend, including less ti
me and physical contact with parents; (3) lower grade point average; and (4
) smoking.
