Abstract
A numerical simulation is carried out for the dynamic processes caused by friction during the sliding of solid bodies. It is shown that fric tional self-oscillations can arise even in a purely elastic system, in which there is no difference between the static and dynamic coefficie nts of friction, and the material at each point of a rough surface is deformed linearly.
