The prevalence and distribution of soil-inhabiting Fusarium species in
the soil of vegetable crops grown under custom-made plastic tunnels w
ere studied at three geographical locations on the island of Bahrain.
Six species of Fusarium representing a total of 1154 isolates were iso
lated on modified Komada medium. All species reported in this survey a
re recorded for the first time from the hot, arid desert of Bahrain. F
usarium solani and F. oxysporum were among the most frequently isolate
d fungi in all locations and crops.
