Abstract
We assessed the effect of lower genital tract infections on human immunodef iciency virus type 1 (HIV-1) RNA shedding in the female genital tract. Bact erial vaginosis was significantly associated with HIV-1 RNA expression in t he female genital tract of HIV-infected women.
