As a critical component of our national infrastructure, American agricultur e is a broad-based, massive economic juggernaut with complex activities ext ending from the farm to the fork. Animal agriculture in the United States i s highly vulnerable to intentional disease introduction. This article exami nes the clinical, pathologic, diagnostic, and epidemiologic features of foo t-and-mouth disease, avian influenza, classic swine fever, and Newcastle di sease.
