Abstract
A cDNA, designated LNX1, has been identified by subtractive hybridization o n the basis that it is expressed in normal human prostate but not in LNCaP cells. Sequence analysis revealed that it contained two Alu repetitive sequ ences but no long open reading frame. Hence, it belongs to a class of untra nslated Alu-containing RNAs. LNX1 is expressed mi most tissues. It is encod ed by a single copy gene, which is localized on human chromosome 14.
