Abstract
Surgical advances in the treatment of disorders of the urinary tract have l ead to increasing numbers of patients with indwelling devices. These device s represent foreign material within the body. As such they can serve as a f ocus of infection. This article will discuss commonly used indwelling urina ry tract devices, the risk of infectious complications, their evaluation, a nd treatment.
