Abstract
The regulation of energy balance occurs in the hypothalamus. There, afferen t hormonal and neural signals are integrated to influence the efferents sig nal of caloric intake and energy expenditure. Defects in this complex neuro endocrine negative feedback loop give rise to various known hormonal and ge netic obesity syndromes, and provide insight into therapeutic strategies fo r obesity management.
