Abstract
Molecular mechanics simulations of liquid water in a shear-driven cavity fl ow have been presented by Greenspan [Fluid Dyn. Res. 25 (1999) 37]. The sel ected parameter values in these calculations require cautionary comments, f or example, the presented turbulent flow results involve atomic motion with a kinetic temperature exceeding a million degrees Kelvin!
