Hw. Xiang, The new simple extended corresponding-states principle: complex molecular transport properties in dilute gas state, FLU PH EQUI, 187, 2001, pp. 221-231
The new simple extended corresponding-states principle to accurately correl
ate and predict the transport properties in dilute gas for chemically diver
se set of compounds from the Chapman-Enskog theory is presented. The extend
ed corresponding-states principle is further testified to be successful in
reflecting the physical behavior of substances whose force fields deviate f
rom the spherical molecule argon. Satisfactory results are obtained for sim
ple, nonpolar, polar, hydro-bonding and associating compounds. Once substan
ce-dependent parameters such as the critical. parameters and acentric facto
r are known, the transport properties may be reliably predicted. The paper
presented here provides a general method to describe and predict the transp
ort properties of all classes of molecules in the dilute gas in contrast to
the existing theoretically-based models. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Al
