The solubilities of 2,3-dimethylanilin and 3-nitrotoluol in supercritical c
arbon dioxide have been measured in the pressure range from 8 to 20 MPa usi
ng a flow phase equilibrium apparatus at temperatures of 303, 313 and 323 K
. The measured solubilities exhibit a clear dependence on the solvent densi
ty and have been correlated with the reduced density of the pure solvent an
d with the model proposed by Chrastil. These models show good agreement wit
h the experimental data but the average absolute relative deviation (AARD)
is clearly less when the model of Chrastil is considered. (C) 2001 Publishe
