Cc. Lee et al., Utilization of a dispersion-shifted fiber for simultaneous measurement of distributed strain and temperature through Brillouin frequency shift, IEEE PHOTON, 13(10), 2001, pp. 1094-1096
In this letter, we propose and realize a new method that utilizes a dispers
ion-shifted fiber having compound compositions with different temperature c
oefficients in core to simultaneously measure the distributed strain and te
mperature based on Brillouin frequency shift. In a 3682-m sensing length of
large-effective-area nonzero dispersion-shifted fiber, a temperature resol
ution of 5 degreesC, a strain resolution of 60 mu epsilon, and a spatial re
solution of 2 in are achieved simultaneously.
