Ahg. Vieira et al., HORMONAL RESPONSE DURING A FENFLURAMINE-ASSOCIATED PANIC ATTACK, Brazilian journal of medical and biological research, 30(7), 1997, pp. 887-890
Secretion curves for prolactin, cortisol, TSH, and GH from a 37-year o
ld woman with dysthymia and panic disorder with agoraphobia were deter
mined one day prior to (day I), and during a panic attack (day II) ass
ociated with an oral dose of 60 mg dl-fenfluramine, a drug known to in
crease anticipatory anxiety. The increased cortisol secretion observed
is discussed in relation to the hormonal correlates of anxiety and th
e possible role of depression, dl-fenfluramine, and serotonergic recep
tor sensitivity.
