B. Orge et al., Changes in refractive indices of ternary mixtures containing benzene, cyclohexane, 1-pentanol, and anisole at T=298.15 K, J CHEM THER, 33(5), 2001, pp. 555-564
Refractive indices for the ternary mixtures (benzene+1-pentanol+anisole), (
cyclohexane+1-pentanol+anisole), and (benzene+cyclohexane+anisole) at T = 2
98.15 K and atmospheric pressure over the whole mole fraction range are rep
orted. The corresponding derived property was calculated from the experimen
tal data, and fitted to the Cibulka equation, such parameters being gathere
d. The application of the Heller equation in order to predict the excess mo
lar volumes from experimental refractive index on mixing was studied with d
ifferent mixing rules, a qualitative accuracy being obtained for the mixtur
es containing I-pentanol due to the nonlinear character of its refractive i
ndex on mixing. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
