Abstract
We investigate the possibility that stringy nonperturbative effects ap
pear as holes in the world sheet. We focus on the case of Dirichlet st
ring theory, which we argue should be formulated rather differently th
an in previous work, and we find that the effects of boundaries are na
turally weighted by e(-0(1/gst)).
