Abstract
Record-linkage refers to the linking together of data relating to the same individual from separate source files. In this paper, we discuss ways in wh ich the technique can enhance observational prescribing research in large p opulations. We draw upon the work of the Medicines Monitoring Unit (MEMO), University of Dundee, to illustrate its contribution to prescribing researc h.
