Abstract
The essential oil of Artemisia verlotiorum Lamotte growing in Auvergne (Fra nce) was investigated by GC and GUMS. Eleven batches of the plant were harv ested in various areas, at different vegetative pei iods, and essential oil s isolated from aerial parts by steam distillation. Fifty components amount ing to ca. 90% of the oil were identified, the major being alpha -thujone ( 40.7% av.). The other significant constituents were 1,8-cineole (9.58%), be ta -thujone (6.70%), beta -caryophyllene (9.34%), germacrene D (4.23%) and caryophyllene oxide.
