Abstract
The addition of perfluorohexyl iodide to allyl chloride leads to the format ion of 3-(perfluorohexyl)prop-1-ene in addition to the expected iodine-cont aining adduct. This reaction was studied under different conditions in orde r to determine their influence on the formation of the polyfluoro-olefin. T he reaction conditions varied in the experiments were: molar ratio of react ants, weight percent of initiator, temperature and reaction time, and their effect on the formation of 3-(perfluorohexyl)prop-1-ene and by-products wa s determined.
