Abstract
Aim of our study was to investigate the different effects on attentional ca pacity of deep brain stimulation DBS (STN or GPi) and of 1-dopa in PD patie nts. Patients were evaluated on-DBS/off-1-dopa, on-1-dopa/off-DBS, on-1-dop a/on-DBS and off-1-dopa/off-DBS. Our results indicate that DBS effects on a ttentional functions parallel those of 1-dopa. A site independent (both STN and GPi) worsening of verbal fluency was observed, possibly connected to t he stimulus effect on the cortico-subcortical-cortical loop.
