Cr. Gautam et al., Synthesis and electrical conduction behaviour of strontium yttrium titanium cobalt oxide (Sr1-xYxTi1-xCoxO3, 0.01 <= x <= 0.10), MATER LETT, 50(4), 2001, pp. 254-258
Various compositions in the valence compensated solid solution system Sr1-x
YxTi1-xCoxO3 (0.01 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.10) have
been synthesized by solid state ceramic method. Crystal structure, density
and porosity of these compositions have been determined. DC resistivity an
d Seebeck coefficient of all the samples have been measured as a function o
f temperature in the range 300-1000 K. Positive values of Seebeck coefficie
nt in the entire temperature range of measurement shows that holes are the
majority charge carriers. Conductivity increases with increasing x indicati
ng that conduction occurs mainly because of cobalt ions. Post-sintering tre
atments viz (I) quenching the samples after sintering and (II) annealing in
air at 1000 degreesC after sintering do not affect the electrical properti
es of these materials significantly. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rig
