Abstract
This paper describes the preparation of manganese(II)-phenanthroline comple x functionalized MCM-41 (MCM from Mobil Crystalline Material). The as-synth esized organic group functional MCM-41 and metal-ion-complex functionalized MCM-41 were extensively characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), T EM, solid-state Si-29 and C-13 NMR and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isoth erms at 77 K, as well as Mn(II) electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy at room temperature, These results indicated that 3-methacryloylaxypropyl g roup well dispersed in the mesopore of MCM-41, which attached to the silica te walls via Si-O-Si bonds. The mesopore of MCM-41 was tailored by the graf ted organic group and the complex, while the coordination state of Mn(II) w as unaffected by the process of grafting.
