Abstract
The concentration of mercury was determined in soils and sediment samples c ollected at the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge in southwest Louisiana. Dre dge spoils from the Calcasieu Ship Channel were used to reclaim lost marshl and at three sites located within the refuge. Ship channel sediments and so il samples from reclaimed sites as well as natural marsh soils had comparab le mercury concentrations. Mean concentrations of mercury varied from 0.07 to 0.12 mg/kg across sampling locations at the refuge and the ship channel sediments. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
