M. Niell et S. Santamaria, Additions to the knowledge of entomopathogenic Entomophthorales (Fungi, Zygomycota) from Spain, NOVA HEDWIG, 73(1-2), 2001, pp. 167-197
As a result of fieldwork during the years 1996-1998 and of the review of ot
her collections preserved at BCB-Mycotheca herbarium, a list of 26 species
of entomopathogenic Entomophthorales from Spain is given. The following 18
species are new Spanish records: Batkoa apiculata, Batkoa limoniae comb. no
v., Entomophthora brevinucleata, E. culicis, E. syrphi, Erynia aquatica, E.
plecopteri, E. variabilis, Pandora bullata, P echinospora, Furia crustosa.
E ithacensis, Eryniopsis caroliniana, Zoophthora lanceolata, Z. miridis, Z
nematoceris, Z. occidentalis and Z. psyllae. Z. miridis and Z psyllae are
second world records. The genera Batkoa, Eryniopsis, Furia and Strongwellse
a are reported for the first time from Spain. The conidial stage of Furia v
irescens is newly reported from Spain, after the species was only known in
its resting spore stage. Three unknown forms, belonging to Entomophthora, S
trongwellsea and Tarichium, have also been included. Especially remarkable
is a first world record of a species of Entomophthora on a plecopteran. The
species included are analysed in a dichotomous key and diagnostic characte
rs as well as microphotographs and taxonomic notes are provided.
