Abstract
Magnetic Gd/Fe and Gd/Co multilayer structures with d-spacing of about I nm were probed with elliptically polarized synchrotron radiation (SR). The in tensity dependence of the magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) around the 3d a bsorption edge of Gd at room temperature was measured as a function of the degree of circular polarization in order to utilize the MCD effect for quan titative polarization analysis of SR in soft X-ray range.
