Measurement of the (p)over-bar-p -> KSKS eta cross section at beam momentain the regions of 1.45 and 1.7 GeV/c

The PS185 experiment at LEAR/CERN has investigated strangeness production i n, (p) over barp collisions with final states such as (A) over bar Lambda, <(<Sigma>)over bar>(0)A + c.c, <(<Sigma>(+))over bar>Sigma (+),<(<Sigma>(-) )over bar>Sigma (-) and KSKS. Results are presented from a study of about 3 2000 KSKSX events obtained at several (p) over bar momenta in the regions o f 1.45 and 1.7 GeV/c. The (p) over barp --> K(S)K(S)eta cross sections extr acted at these momenta constitute the first measurement of this reaction in flight and are broadly consistent with expectations of a phase-space extra polation of branching ratios from annihilation at rest.
