Based on a simplified dynamic model and the entropy balance equation, by de
scribing the energy and moisture exchange between oasis and desert, the cha
racteristics of the oasis-desert interaction are studied dynamically and th
ermodynamically. The dependence of the oasis evaporation rate on the oasis
wetness and the oasis scale is revealed. The results show that the oasis sc
ale and oasis wetness are two key dominant factors controlling the cold isl
and effect. A smallest critical oasis scale for maintaining and developing
oasis is obtained.
