Postoperative management of patients suffering from symptoms of the temporo
mandibular joint does not differ considerably from the one of preoperative
examination protocols. Knowledge of previous surgery helps to plan patient
work-up and to interpret normal postoperative findings (eminectomy, discect
omy, susceptibility artefacts from metallic residues...) and typical compli
cations (intraarticular loose bodies, dislocations, avascular necrosis, fore
ign body granulomatous reactions) appropriately.
