Eight patients (77 joints) with polyarthritis were treated systemically wit
h 570 MBq (15.4 mCi) of rhenium 186 (Re-186) hydroxyethylidenediphosphonate
(HEDP). Pain and disease activity were assessed monthly. In six (75%) of e
ight patients, a single injection of Re-186 HEDP led to an improvement in d
isease activity. Systemic low-dose treatment with Re-186 HEDP can reduce pa
in and disease activity in patients with polyarthritis.
