Abstract
A non-linear vibration model for fluid-membrane coupling is developed for s imulating the behaviour of valveless micropumps. The analytical solution fo r fluid-membrane coupling vibration has been approximated using the Galerki n and small parameter perturbation methods. Specifically, the vibration res ponse of the membrane and the mean flux through a valveless membrane microp ump are investigated in detail. The effects of the pressure loss coefficien ts of the diffuser and the coupling parameter on the mean flux are examined . An optimal working frequency range for the valveless membrane micropump i s obtained. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectivene ss of the present model for the designing of valveless micropumps. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
