Abstract
Troponoid analogues of calixarene, having a tropone or a cyclohepta[b]chrom en-6(1 1 H)-one ring were synthesized by the reaction of dichlorocarbene wi th p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene. The cyclohepta[b]chromene derivative dimerize d easily to give meso- and dl-dimers. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Scienc e Ltd.
