The variational principle and application of numerical manifold method

The physical-cover-oriented variational principle of numerical manifold met hod (NMM) for the analysis of linear elastic static problems was put forwar d according to the displacement model and the characters of numerical manif old method. ne theoretical calculating formulations and the controlling equ ation of NMM were derived. As an example, the plate with a hole in the cent er is calculated and the results show that the solution precision and effic iency of NMM are agreeable.
