Limitations on current explanations of category-specific agnosia

The HIT framework accepts a number of assumptions that are widely held as p lausible or even well established in the literature on category-specific ag nosia. We point out that a number of these elementary conjectures, now almo st taken for granted, have received little in the way of convincing empiric al support.
