Net photosynthetic rate and chemical composition of the Karwinskia parvifol
ia Rose leaves were estimated. On the basis of the CO2 curves of photosynth
esis the values of PN increased in response to the increasing CO2 Concentra
tion and irradiance. Higher temperature did not significantly influence the
rate of photosynthesis. Chemical composition of the leaves was different:
the level of starch and the content of reducing sugars were higher in the p
lants cultivated under summer temperature regime (35/20 degreesC), however,
content of the N and C was higher in the plants cultivated under winter te
mperature regime (20/5 degreesC). Our study also provides the values of the
other characteristics: dark respiration rate, chlorophyll concentration, s
tomata characteristics and specific leaf area. It was confirmed that higher
temperature in SR significantly influenced stomata apparatus properties su
ch as stomata density, stomata length and width.
