Two novel cucurbitacins designated as neocucurbitacins A (1), possessing in
hibitory activity of polyoma enhancer binding protein 2 alphaA (PEBP2 alpha
A) and osteoclastogenesis-inhibitory factor (OCIF) gene expression in human
osteoblast-like cells, and B (2) were isolated from the fruit of Luffa ope
rculata. Their structures have been determined by extensive spectroscopic i
nvestigation.
