Suicide in response to changing societies

Suicide is a major health problem for youths, and existing studies focus ma inly on psychiatric aspects of suicide. This article brings a global perspe ctive to youth suicide, with emphasis on the effects that local sociocultur al factors and the transformation of societies have on this problem. This p henomenon is illustrated by the case of China and its comparisons with find ings from the West.
