Abstract
The paper concerns the incompatible finite element methodology. First, the patch test condition (PTC) for axisymmetric problems is studied. For the im plementation of PTC, a post-treatment approach, the revise-stiffness (R-s) method is suggested to construct incompatible elements. A quadratic-complet eness incompatible displacement mode with the fewest element parameters is formulated. In terms of the R-s approach and the general revise-displacemen t (R-u) method, a set of four-node incompatible elements is constructed for plane and axisymmetric problems. Numerical tests show that the suggested a pproaches in this paper can be used to produce various incompatible models with high performance. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
