COMPUTER METHODS IN APPLIED MECHANICS AND ENGINEERING
The paper concerns the incompatible finite element methodology. First, the
patch test condition (PTC) for axisymmetric problems is studied. For the im
plementation of PTC, a post-treatment approach, the revise-stiffness (R-s)
method is suggested to construct incompatible elements. A quadratic-complet
eness incompatible displacement mode with the fewest element parameters is
formulated. In terms of the R-s approach and the general revise-displacemen
t (R-u) method, a set of four-node incompatible elements is constructed for
plane and axisymmetric problems. Numerical tests show that the suggested a
pproaches in this paper can be used to produce various incompatible models
with high performance. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
