Abstract
Two-dimensional changes of beach profile are computed by the continuit y equation of sediment. Wave transformation used in the continuity equ ation is obtained by solving the shallow water equations numerically. The application of this method for different wave height, period, and sand particle diameters shows that this approach is reasonable. Applyi ng this method and the result of field observations to Nakisuna beach, the coastal changes there are found to be stable without any protecti on.
