At room temperature, dibenzoyl peroxide undergoes oxidative addition reacti
on with metallic copper powder and quinoline to afford the binuclear copper
(II) complex, [CU(C6H5COO)(2)-(C9H7N)](2). This complex is further characte
rized by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. The structure of the co
mplex has been determined by a single-crystal X-ray analysis. Each copper(I
I) ion is coordinated by two bridging bidentate benzoate and quinoline to f
orm dimeric molecule.
