The electron temperature in a Li2CO3 ablative capillary discharge has been
estimated on the base of soft x-ray spectral line intensity measurements an
d of evaluations of steady-state ionization and population fractions for th
e mixture of lithium, carbon and oxygen. The discrepancy in the peak temper
atures, estimated from spectral measurements and calculated by one-dimensio
nal NM and time dependent collisional-radiative codes, is explained by an i
nitial overheating of the plasma electrons.
