Abstract
The most important conditions that provide the unambiguous chromatographic
identification of organic substances without using other analytical paramet
ers were considered. It was shown that a binary classification using the "a
ccuracy" and "unambiguity" categories is more advantageous for the characte
rization of the results of analyte identification, whereas the attempts at
characterizing them by uncertainty or confidence probability (similar to th
e representation of results of quantitative determinations) are inexpedient
and only hinder the interpretation. Quantitative estimates can only be use
d for characterizing the information content of various methods and their c
ombinations used to solve certain problems, first and foremost, to indicate
the necessity of using other analytical parameters for enhancing the unamb
iguity of the results.
