A Monte Carlo code for the simulation of neutron strain scanning experiment
s on a reactor-based two-axis diffractometer is described. In order to vali
date this code, several experiments have been performed. A comparison is ma
de between experimental and simulated results for instrumental resolution,
primary beam divergence and wavelength distribution in the incident neutron
beam. Finally, the application of the simulation results to the analysis o
f a real neutron strain scanning experiment is outlined.
