Anisotropic and isotropic magnetostriction mechanisms have been examin
ed in the electromagnetic-acoustic conversion of Rayleigh waves. These
mechanisms have been examined for various orientations of the polariz
ing fields in the range between room temperature and the Curie point.
A qualitative interpretation is given in terms of the thermodynamic pa
rameters.
