The authors analyze the value transformation process in Finnish public broa
dcasting in the late 1990s. This analytic focus emphasizes relations and dy
namics that link a market multiplicity (political, open, popular, and profe
ssional) with management arenas (institutional, strategic, business, and op
erative). Correspondence and contradiction are featured aspects of the valu
e transformation process. Two paradoxes (amalgamation and synergy) highligh
t the dialectical nature of value negotiation framing the modern public pol
ymedia enterprise in Scandinavia.
